The stunning Oppenheimer Blue diamond nicknamed ‘the gem of gems’ set a world record on 18 May 2016, when it sold at Christie’s in Geneva to a phone bidder for a whopping £40 million - making it the most valuable jewel ever to be sold at an auction.
The diamond got its name from the late Sir Philip Oppenheimer, and it is the darkest and most saturated the jewel can be. Set in a ring and bordered by two smaller trapeze-shaped diamonds – it is truly breathtaking.
