Throughout ancient history, diamonds have been believed to ward off evil, represent divine power, and even have healing powers. Today, the precious gemstones are considered as the ultimate symbol of love. The earliest record of a man giving a diamond to a woman for her hand in marriage was in 1477, when the Archduke of Austria gave one to Mary of Burgundy. Now, as the most coveted gemstone in fine jewellery, diamonds have always held powerful allure.

Colour measures the presence of any tint, with colourless diamonds being the most valuable. Clarity assesses the number of internal or external imperfections, with fewer flaws indicating a higher-quality stone. Carat weight refers to the size of the diamond, though true value comes from the balance of all four characteristics working together.
